2.
Parent-Child Therapy
I work with parent and child "dyads" to help promote healthy relationships and secure attachments. Communication issues, problems with authority or just not relating to one another can cause conflict between a parent and their child. I work on helping kids and parents communicate more openly, develop healthy boundaries, strengthen their bonds and reconnect with one another.
3.
Trauma Therapy
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

I am trained and certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), using the "P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E." treatment model, by the the Missouri Academy of Child Trauma Studies (MoACTS), the training arm of Children's Advocacy Services of Greater St. Louis at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
4.
Family
Therapy
I specialize in helping families work through some of their most challenging times using a variety of family-specific approaches and interventions.

I also work with foster and adoptive families whose children might be struggling to bond or may have been diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder.

My Approach
I consider my approach to be person-centered, non-directive and eclectic meaning that I allow each family to determine what therapeutic intervention will work best for them and their individual situation. I don't try to force any one particular therapeutic intervention onto anyone. Think "square peg, round hole" situation. Instead, I carry many "tools" in my therapy "toolbox" and, after getting to know each client and family on a personal level, I offer suggestions of what intervention or approach might work best for them. Treatment suggestions may include interventions and activities stemming from Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, TF-CBT, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy and Family Systems Theory. I aim to help clients understand how various treatments might help with their situation and ultimately I encourage my clients to advocate for what is best for them so we can decide on a treatment plan together.
I make every effort to work with my clients, not work on them.
After all, you are the expert on YOU!
About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experience working with children and families facing a wide range of challenges.
I was born in Chicago but then grew up in St. Louis. I attended Rockhurst University in Kansas City, earning my undergraduate degree in Psychology and then completed my Masters in Social Work at St. Louis University with a specialization in Clinical Practice with Families.
Outside of work time, I am an avid sports fan, enjoy traveling, camping, hiking and the outdoors and spending time with my friends and family, including my wife, our three year old son Thomas, and our two dogs Seamus and Galway!
I would love the chance to help your family.
